Wednesday Evenings

March 16th- Total Ministries

Jesus calls us to die to self if we are to be his followers. Dying to self means that our lives are not always the center of attention and that we must work for the benefit of others, not just ourselves. We’ll depart at 5:30 from the Nexus to bag groceries for needy families in Spartanburg.

March 23rd- Death & Dying

What is it like to be with someone who has died or is dying. What does one say to a

terminally ill person that does not deny the reality of situation and helps them prepare for

their death. Join us for this unique session as we head toward the cross with Jesus.

March 30th  Why did Jesus have to die?

Did God force Jesus to die or did Jesus embrace the cross of his own free will?

This session we will look at the death of Jesus and what this means for all of us. We will look

at a variety of perspectives found in scripture, in modern media, and from theologians. We’ll

also discuss the reality of evil in the world how Jesus death relates to this reality

April 6th-No Activities

April 13th  – Faith or Fiction?

The Scopes Monkey Trials ended in 1925, but this controversial issue is still alive and raging in our own time. This issue has become a hotbed of political fights between school boards and concerned parents. Some people want the government to jump into this debate and decide. Where do you stand?  Can a person be a Christian and still believe in evolution as a theory or must one believe in a literal interpretation of Genesis to have real faith? Join us as we discuss this topic with a guest panel.
